One of the unique programs at WSHS is SALC. SALC is an empowering student-run government organization that gives a voice and a vote to students in determining the culture of their school. The class allows students to make a difference here and in the community through the organization and promotion of student and community activities. SALC produces major schoolwide events and projects including Homecoming, Operation Holiday Help, New Student Orientation, Student Leadership Summit, Prom, awareness months, and appreciation weeks. As a result of the success of the SALC program, we have decided to expand the number of offering and our three year goal is to work to make this a Specialty Program offering (transferable) at WSHS. While we are still in the early stages, we see the potential that we have to teach leadership concepts to all students, whether they decide to go into the workforce, the military, or attend college after high school.
