Sign up to take Theatre Arts at Woodbridge Senior High. Woodbridge offers five different courses in Theatre

Theatre I: Introduction to Theatre

A basic overview of Theatre and where it came from. This course focuses on Theatre History, Acting Techniques, Public Speaking, Playwriting, and more!

Theatre II: Exploration in Performace Theatre

This course explores performance components of theatre such as characterization, collaboration, musical theatre!

Theatre III/Advanced Theatre

These combined courses offer an in depth look at performcne and production in Theatre. Students in these courses will focus on createing a performance from strat to finish which incorporates , storytelling, advanced acting techniques, directing. student sin this class will have performacne opportunities in the forms of winter and spring theatre festivals.

Technical Theatre and Production

This course focuses on the technical components of Theatre. Stduents will learn skills and recieve handson training in the areas of theatrical design, costumes, makeup, scenery, props, lighting and sound. Students in this course apply their skills and knowlede to support various needs of Woodbridge Senior High School Performing Arts.

WSHS Drama Club

Woodbridge Drama Club is a student-led group which meets monthly to discuss theatre events, play drama games, and come together as theatre people. Drama Club is open to all students. Drama Club hosts an annual 24-Hour Play Festival and Musical Theatre Miscast Cabaret.

International Thesbian Society

Woodbridge is home to Thespian Society Troupe #449. The International Thespian Society is a National Honor Society for students dedicated to the art of Theatre. The ITS Members serve as leaders in the Theatre Department, attend and compete at the Virginia Thespian Festival and High School Theatre Excellence Awards. ITS Members are inducted on an invitation basis after earning at least 10 Thespian Points by participating in theatrical events at Woodbridge.

WSHS Dramtics Team

This is an audition based team which prepares a one act play to compete at State Theatre Competitions. The team travels and competes at VTA (Virginia Theatre Association), VHSL (Virginia High School League), and VTF (Virginia Thespian Festival). 

Theatre Performances

Woodbridge Theatre produces two full length mainstage productions each year. Typically a Fall Play and a Spring Musical. Auditions for these productions are open to all students at Woodbridge Senior High. In addition to these two performances the Theatre Arts classes produce shows as well.
