Family and Community Engagement

What is FACES:

In Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS), FACES stands for Family Academic and Community Engagement Specialists. These professionals work to build strong connections between schools, families, and the wider community, supporting students' academic success by ensuring families are informed and involved in their child's education and helping families navigate the school system.

Key aspects of the FACES program:

Bridging the gap:

  • FACES help bridge communication between home and school.

Capacity building:

  • They build families' ability to support learning at home and navigate the educational process.

Collaboration:

  • FACES collaborate with school leaders and Parent Liaisons to implement school initiatives and provide resources.

Data-driven support:

  • They use student academic data to identify areas where families might need support.

Promoting engagement:

  • Their goal is to increase family participation in school activities and decision-making.
