The AP Scholars Program is a four-year college preparatory program designed to provide students with an educational foundation of critical thinking and analytical skills as well as the improvement of written, oral, and presentation skills. By participating in Advanced Placement courses offered at Woodbridge Senior High School (based on AP curricula outlined by the College Board), students in the AP Scholars program are given unique opportunities to analyze data, synthesize information from multiple sources and points of view, problem-solve for real-life situations, work both independently and collaboratively, and communicate effectively in multiple formats. Students may also earn college credit for qualifying scores on AP exams (college credit for AP scores varies by college/university and by subject).
9th Grade: Enroll in 2 or more Advanced courses
10th Grade: Enroll in 2 or more Advanced or AP courses
11th Grade: Enroll in 2 or more AP courses
12th Grade: Enroll in 2 or more AP courses
Students must maintain at least a C (70%) in all coursework to remain eligible for the AP Scholars Program. Students who do not end the school year with at least a C in all courses may be removed from the program. If a student is at Woodbridge High School on transfer for AP Scholars and is removed, they will have to attend their zoned school the following year.
Students who return to their zoned school for any reason will be ineligible for VHSL-sponsored activities for 365 days.
Students in the Advanced Placement Scholars Specialty Program must complete a total of 60 community service hours before graduation.
15 hours per year is highly recommended.
Students who live within Woodbridge High School's attendance boundaries will be provided transportation at our neighborhood bus stops.
Students who live outside of Woodbridge High School's attendance boundaries are provided specialty transportation through the PWCS Transportation Department and can choose from a number of established express bus stops. Express bus stops are not always within walking distance of a student's home.
Please refer to the Specialty Program website for Express Bus stop locations: PWCS Specialty Program Transportation
