Band

WSHS offers the following courses and extra curriculuars in Band:

Beginning Band: 

Students who have never taken a band class before can take this class. Students will learn the foundations to play the following instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba or percussion. There will be some after school rehersals and concerts. 

Symphonic Band: 

Students who have been in band classes and playing their instruments for 2-4 years, no auditions necessary. Students will have a class with their instrument group - brass, woodwinds, and percussion.

• Acc Brass: Brass players (trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, euphonium, tuba)
• Acc Woodwinds: Woodwind players (flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone)
• Int Percussion: Percussion players (mallets, xylophone, marimba, bells, snare drum, bass drum, timpani, cymbals, accessories)

Wind Ensemble (Advanced Band): 

Students who have been playing their instrument for 4+ years. This course is for advanced level musicans and is by audition only. Auditions will take place in May for the following school year. 

Marching Band: 

Any student can join the marching band and there is no prior experience required. The Marching Band staff teaches all students how to play if they would like to join. 

• Meets after school from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., August through November
• Includes woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments and color guard
• Marching Band Interest Nights will be May 7, May 9, and May 13, 2024, 6-8 PM in the WSHS Band Room for students who are interested in joining next year
