Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) offers comprehensive driver education programs that emphasize safety and skill development, resulting in some of the most successful teen drivers in Virginia!

What is Behind the Wheel?
- 14 hours of in-car instruction during a 7 day session
- 7 hours driving with certified instructor
- 7 hours observing another student driver with certified instructor
- Road skills evaluation on day 7 of the session
If you are looking to obtain your driver's license, SIGN UP TODAY! The cost of this WORLD CLASS program taught by PWCS teachers certified in Driver's Education is only $240.
Sessions are available after school and during the summer each year.
Registration, Payment, Requirements and Contact Information
Registration
- Register online at PWCS Behind-The-Wheel Driver Education Registration(payments CANNOT be made on this site)
Payment
- Make Payment online through Student Quick Pay or,
- Email Receipt of Payment to Mrs. M. Thomas [email protected] in order to schedule classes.
After Payment and Registration
Requirements
- Must have a valid learner's permit.
- Must be currently enrolled in HPE II or completed Classroom DE and hold a DEC-District 8 Card.
- Drive a minimum of 20 hours with parent supervision.
A student is required to attend the scheduled days for instruction. If you cannot commit to the scheduled meeting dates and times, please schedule a session where you can attend all 7 days. Missing days of instruction may cause the student to not meet the required time of instruction, delays in the licensing process, and forfeiture of the $240 fee. Rescheduling of missed days will be on availability only.
