Goals for Continuous Improvement

WSHS plans to focus on continued growth in performance for all students, improvement in the areas of closing the achievement gap for English Learners and Students with Disabilities, increasing the attendance rate, and increase student participation in advanced courses for all students and also for ELLs, SWDs, Economically Disadvantages, and minority students.

With regards to improving academic achievement, WSHS is focused on improving student performance each year for all students and also specifically for English Learners and Students with Disabilities. While, WSHS is fully accredited in all areas, there is room for improvement in student performance in a 4 core subject areas. In the next 3 years, WSHS will work for improvement in student performance each year on SOL End of Course Tests for all students and also improvement in the performance of specific subgroups.

Additionally, WSHS is working to improve the Average Daily Attendance Rate and to reduce the proportion of students who are chronically absent through increased monitoring and through collaboration between administration, counseling, and the attendance officer.

Lastly, WSHS is committed to increasing access to advanced courses for all students with a focus on underrepresented student populations. Specifically, WSHS is working to increase the participation rate of ELLs, SWDs, Economically Disadvantaged, and minority students in AP, Dual Enrollment, CTE, and other advanced classes each year.
